Our primary focus is patient safety and for this reason we are committed to processing restoration applications as a priority. A pharmacy owner should take immediate steps to restore the pharmacy premises to the GPhC register. This involves completing the necessary forms and making the correct payments here.
The cost of restoration is £100 application fee and £ 674 restoration fee. Payment should be made by credit or debit card. The forms must be completed and signed by the person who is lawfully conducting the retail pharmacy business, for example a director of a body corporate. Forms can be faxed to 0207 572 2510. The local Primary Care Organisation should also be informed.
Until such time that the pharmacy premises is restored to the register, the pharmacy should not take in any further prescriptions and must not make any supplies of medicines. If the pharmacy took immediate steps to restore their registration, it could continue to assemble medicines against prescriptions and accept deliveries. Prescriptions can be handed back to patients for the patient to take their prescription elsewhere.
Patients and others wishing to access pharmacy services should be directed to nearby services. Consideration must be given to supplies that are expected to take place whilst the pharmacy remains closed, for example, patients awaiting their deliveries, MDS and methadone services. Arrangements must be made to ensure that patients are informed and alternative arrangements are made for supplies that are urgently required.
