Past consultations

Pharmacy Order

The first formal consultation was on the draft Pharmacy Order 2009, the legislation that establishes the role, functions and powers of the GPhC. This consultation closed on 9 March 2009.

Consultation on the following Rules took place between February and May this year:

A report on the Rules consultation has been published and can be accessed below.

Re-drafted Rules were considered by the GPhC Council at a meeting on 3 June where the Rules were made. The Rules are now subject to Parliamentary process before they are able to come into force.

Standards

An initial consultation on the following draft standards and supporting guidance, hosted by the Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence, closed on 12th January 2010:

  • Pharmacy owners, superintendent pharmacists and premises
  • Code of ethics, conduct and performance
  • Proficiency
  • Education and training
  • Continuing professional development

A summary of consultation response was GPhC's Shadow Council at their March meeting and a redrafted set of standards were considered at the Councils April meeting. 

Consultation then took place on revised drafts of the following standards:

  • Pharmacy owners, superintendent pharmacists and premises
  • Code of ethics, conduct and performance
  • Education and training
  • Continuing professional development

Consultation closed on 28 May 2010. The final consultation report and response is below.

Consultation on Education procedures and registration criteria. This consultation closed on 15th February 2010. A response to this consultation is currently being prepared. The response and next steps will be available in the next few months.

Current consultations

Consultation is also under way on our draft 2011 fees rules. 

Consultation documents and an online response form are available here and will run for twelve weeks until 16 August 2010.

Once complete the responses will be compiled into a report for consideration by Council.
