GPhC Chair not seeking reappointment for second term

The Chair of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), Bob Nicholls CBE, has decided not to seek re-appointment for a second four-year term. Mr. Nicholls will continue in his role until early 2014 and by then will have been fully involved in establishing the organisation and leading the Council for five years.

The position of Chair is currently the subject of a Great Britain-wide recruitment process and the closing date for applications is 14 June. Five Council members are also being recruited and the closing date for those applications is 13 September. You can find out more about how to apply at www.gphccouncilmembers.com

“I believe strongly that for the good of the organisation a Chair should commit to a full four-year term and, realistically, I would be unable to do so as I am keen to have more time to pursue other professional and leisure interests,” Mr. Nicholls said.

“I also think that the Chair-designate should be fully involved in the process of Council member appointments scheduled for the Autumn.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the Council. We have an ambitious agenda for 2013/14, including rolling out a new approach to regulating and inspecting pharmacies, and I am committed to playing my part in helping to deliver that agenda.”
