GPhC responds to Law Commission report and draft Bill on the Regulation of Health Professionals

Responding to the publication of the Law Commission report and draft Bill on the Regulation of Health Professionals, Duncan Rudkin, Chief Executive of the General Pharmaceutical Council, said:

“We strongly support the aims of the Law Commission’s review of the legislative framework for the health professional regulators.  Legislation underpins a modern and effective professional regulatory framework.

“In particular patients and the public wish to see their concerns handled quickly, appropriately and consistently by the different regulators.

“We will now consider the Law Commission’s proposals in detail and discuss their implications for pharmacy regulation with our Council.

“We will continue to engage constructively in all future discussions about the proposed changes to the laws governing health professional regulation.”
