Evaluating our approach to the regulation of registered pharmacies

The GPhC has contacted all pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to inform them that it will be seeking their views as part of an evaluation into its approach to the regulation of registered pharmacies, conducted by ICF International (ICF).

ICF will be conducting a survey which will explore registrants’:

  • understanding of the GPhC’s standards for registered pharmacies
  • experience of GPhC inspections
  • use of action plans following inspections
  • views on our intention to publish inspection reports

The survey is one element of our commitment to test and challenge whether we are meeting our objectives of promoting patient safety and encouraging improvements in pharmacy.

The survey will be relevant to anyone working in, or responsible for a pharmacy registered with the GPhC. We are particularly keen to hear from owners, superintendents, responsible pharmacists and pharmacy managers, including those that have not yet been inspected under our new approach.

Those who are happy to take part in the survey will be contacted directly by ICF in the next few weeks. There will also be an option to volunteer to share their views in a longer in-depth interview with one of ICF’s researchers.

Any registrants preferring to opt out of the survey can do so here

The results of the survey will be made public later in the year.
