Share your views on religion, personal values and beliefs in pharmacy

19 December 2016

We have launched a consultation on religion, personal values and beliefs in the context of delivering person-centred care.

The consultation is open until 7 March 2017.

The consultation asks about the wording of the examples on personal values and beliefs in the new standards for pharmacy professionals—which will come into force in May 2017—and about the guidance on the behaviours expected of pharmacy professionals in applying the standards.

We recognise that this change will have important implications for the way some pharmacy professionals practise, so we are keen to hear from registrants, employers, pharmacy professional bodies, and users of pharmacy on what impact they feel the proposals may have on pharmacy practice and patient care.

Consultation on revised threshold criteria

We have also launched a separate consultation on revised threshold criteria. These criteria help the GPhC to determine whether a fitness to practise case should be referred to the Investigating Committee and provide a framework to ensure proportionate, fair and consistent decisions are made across all investigations.

This consultation is part of a wider programme of reviewing all of the GPhC’s statutory decision-making guidance, which aims to support good decision-making at all stages of the fitness to practise process, to make the process as clear and understandable as possible.
