Registration renewal fees to remain at current levels

23 February 2017

Our governing council has decided that registration renewal fees for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy premises will remain at current levels for the financial year 2017/18.

Registration renewal fees will continue to be £250 for pharmacists, £118 for pharmacy technicians and £241 for registered pharmacies.

The council approved the organisation’s budget for 2017/18 at its meeting in February and agreed as part of the budget that fee levels should remain unchanged.

Tax relief on registration renewal fees

If you are a registered pharmacist or pharmacy technician and a UK taxpayer you may be able to claim tax relief on your registration fees. You may also be able to claim a rebate for tax relief you did not claim in previous years.

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) allows individuals to claim tax relief on certain professional subscriptions and fees which have to be paid in order to carry out a specific job. GPhC registration renewal fees for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians fall into this category. This only applies if you pay your own fees; you cannot claim tax relief if your employer pays your fees.
