Q. What about the extra cost relating to the separation of regulatory from professional leadership activities?

A. The Department of Health commissioned an independent evaluation of the economic consequences of establishing a new regulator for pharmacy. A range of potential costs was identified depending on how the regulator was set up. The Government has provided £5.9 million towards transitional funding associated with establishment of the GPhC. The Pharmacy Regulation and Leadership Oversight Group has also provided advice on the financial aspects of establishing the new regulator.
