Professional body

Q. Why is the Government not providing more support in establishing a pharmacy leadership body?

A. As recommended by the Working Party on Professional Regulation and Leadership in Pharmacy, chaired by Lord Carter of Coles, the Pharmacy Regulation and Leadership Oversight Group (PRLOG) has been established. PRLOG is there to advise Ministers on the safe and effective transition to a new regulator for pharmacy. This includes the financial aspects. Whilst the Government would wish to see two successful bodies, the new regulator and a strong leadership body, the latter is a matter for the pharmacy profession to resolve. This process of establishment of the new professional leadership body is being led by the RPSGB.
