Our response to the Law Commissions’ consultation

The governing council of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has approved the organisation’s response to the Law Commissions' consultation on the regulation of health care professionals.

As the response sets out, the GPhC supports the aim of the review to create a new legal framework which enables regulation to adapt and provide flexible and responsive systems that protect public safety and promote high standards in professional practice.

Our response covers key areas of interest, including  governance and accountability models; registers and guidance; fitness to practise impairment, investigation, and adjudication; and the role of the Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence (CHRE).
