Renewal: pharmacists and pharmacy technicians

Important: You must renew your registration at least two months before it is due to expire. This is required by law.

If you do not, you will be removed from the register and will not be able to practise as a pharmacist or pharmacy technician. You will have to restore your entry to the register before you are able to practise as a pharmacist or pharmacy technician again.

How do I renew my registration?

You will need to create an account on the updated myGPhC system to renew your registration. If you have not created an account yet, find out how to sign up

Once you have logged in to myGPhC you will need to:

1. Check that your details are correct

You can update your address, email or telephone number in myGphC if you need to.
If you have changed your name, download a change of details form and send it to us at info@pharmacyregulation.org

2. Declare that you are fit to practice

If you have anything to declare, you will need to give us more information – follow the prompts to find out how to do this.

3. Pay your renewal fee

You will need your debit or credit card to pay, or you can set up a direct debit

  • The fee for renewing your registration as a pharmacist is £257.
  • The fee for renewing your registration as a pharmacy technician is £121.

4. Collect your receipt

If you need a receipt for your renewal payment, you can view and download one from the ‘My payments’ page.

If you paid by card it may take up to 48 hours for your receipt to show.

If you are paying by Direct debit, it may take up to 21 days for your payment receipt to show.

If you are paying by quarterly Direct Debit, each time a payment is taken the amount paid and amount still owing will be updated on your receipt.

What should I do if I don’t want to renew?

If you no longer want to be registered as a pharmacist or pharmacy technician, you should leave the register by completing a voluntary removal form. Learn more about voluntary removal
