Restoring your registration

If it is less than 12 months since you were last registered with the GPhC, and you want to start practising as a pharmacist or pharmacy technician in Great Britain again, you will need to follow the steps below.

Important: Do not practise as a pharmacist or pharmacy technician until you have received your GPhC registration number and your name appears on the online register. Practising as a pharmacist or pharmacy technician while not on the register is breaking the law and you can be prosecuted.

1. Log in to your myGPhC account to complete an application to restore your registration

Button link to mygphc.org

We will use the information you provide in your application to assess if you meet the criteria for registration as a pharmacist [PDF 379KB] or the criteria for registration as a pharmacy technician.

2. Make sure that you have no revalidation records outstanding

If you had revalidation records outstanding at the time of your removal, you must complete these before you can re-join the register. Once you have submitted your restoration application, go to the revalidation section of your myGPhC account to complete and submit any outstanding revalidation.

You will have 28 days to submit your outstanding revalidation record from the date you submit your application to us. If you do not submit your revalidation record via myGPhC within 28 days, we will terminate your application. The application fee is non-refundable and if you want to apply for restoration again, you will need to pay a new fee.

3. Check if you need to provide evidence of English language skills

If you are EEA qualified, joined the register on or before 1 November 2016, and have not already provided evidence of your English language competency, you will need to provide evidence with your application. Please see our guidance on evidence of English language skills.

4. Check if you need to provide a certificate of current professional status

If you are currently, or have been registered with any other healthcare regulator in the UK or overseas during the last five years, then you must provide a certificate of current professional status. This is sometimes called a ‘letter of good standing’. You will need to contact the organisation and request this to be sent directly to us at registers@pharmacyregulation.org. We may check the information on this document with the organisation who issued it. If it is not in English, we will send it to you to be translated. We must receive the document within three months of the date it is issued. It is valid for six months from the issue date.

5. Pay your application fee and then re-entry fee

To submit your application you will need to pay an application fee, which covers the cost of processing your application and is non-refundable.

If your application is approved, you will receive a notification in your myGPhC portal within 28 days. To complete your application you will need to pay a re-entry fee, which covers your registration until you reach the next anniversary of your previous renewal deadline. Then you will need to pay for your next year’s registration as normal.

If you are re-joining the register in the two months before the anniversary of your previous renewal deadline, you will need to pay the following years renewal fee at the same time as your application and re-entry fees.

Once your application has been approved you will need to pay the re-entry fee within 28 days to complete your application. After 28 days your application will be terminated.
