The role

The person we are looking for will be working in a small, busy team to ensure that the GPhC complies with Freedom of Information and data protection legislation and has in place the governance framework and support it needs to function as an effective, proportionate regulator. 

The successful applicant will:

  • Lead and coordinate the handling of all requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act and those made under rights in data protection legislation.
  • Develop and implement measures to enable the GPhC to maintain and improve compliance with data protection legislation.
  • Assess information governance risks and carry out data protection impact assessments, analyse findings and recommend solutions to reduce risks.
  • Review data protection and information security requirements in procurement, develop personal data processing documentation and advise procurement and business teams on contract compliance.
  • Support projects to develop and implement records management and information security improvements to support the GPhC’s aim of aligning with international standards. 
  • Provide advice and promote good practice around the organisation, including facilitating training and developing intranet content. 
  • Develop and document policies and procedures
  • Monitor and report on compliance and performance. 
  • Possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage colleagues and work collaboratively.
  • Have fantastic research skills and an analytical, resolution focused mindset.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of good practice in Freedom of Information, managing personal data and disclosure.
