Duncan Rudkin, Chief Executive of the General Pharmaceutical Council, said:
“Pharmacies and pharmacy professionals are working on the frontline, under significant pressure, to support the public and patients during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Due to the challenges and pressures on the pharmacy sector at this time, and the increasing number of cases of COVID-19, we have decided to postpone the revalidation submission date for those registrants who are due to submit between 20 March and 31 August 2020 (inclusive).
Today the NHS has called upon former pharmacy professionals, alongside doctors, nurses and other health professionals, to re-register and help in tackling the greatest global health threat in the history of the health service. The plans are part of the extensive work to date to prepare for the likely health effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In line with UK Government's advice, the majority of our staff are now working from home. Our contact centre is still open for calls from 9:30- 17:00 every day. We will endeavour to keep providing our phone service but would strongly recommend that, wherever possible, you submit any enquiries via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
The GPhC offices have had to close today for a deep clean following a suspected case of coronavirus among a member of staff. Our phone lines will be closed today; if you need to get in touch please send any queries via email to: email@example.com
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
