A pharmacy professional is ‘fit to practise’ when they have the skills, knowledge, character and health necessary to do their job safely and effectively, and when they act professionally and meet the principles of good practice set out in our various standards, guidance and advice.
Pharmacy professionals on our register must:
- complete a fitness to practise declaration as part of their annual registration renewal, which requires them to tell us if there is any reason why their fitness to practise is impaired
- let us know within seven days if they become aware of an issue which may affect their fitness to practise
- complete continuing professional development and submit revalidation records, to show they keep up to date with developments in pharmacy and professional practice
