Handling personal data: could you spare 15 minutes to help the ICO and pharmacies across the UK?

17 August 2016

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is carrying out research in the community pharmacy sector to better understand how pharmacies in the UK handle the personal data that they come across on a day-to-day basis. Could you help them by completing their anonymous online survey on behalf of your pharmacy?

The ICO is the UK's independent body set up to uphold information rights.  The organisation regulates the Data Protection Act and Privacy and Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, gives advice and guidance to organisations and the public, and develops and promotes best practice.

To continue this work in 2016 the ICO are carrying out research in specific sectors, including community pharmacies, to better understand how personal data is handled. To contribute to ICO’s research, you can complete their anonymous online survey on behalf of your pharmacy by 23 September 2016.

Your contribution will help the ICO to identify areas of good practice to promote, and any common issues so that they can produce guidance to help organisations stay within the law. If you have any questions about the research, you can contact the ICO at Audit@ico.org.uk or find out more on the ICO website at www.ico.org.uk.
