Update May 2012

We have had a terrific response to our consultation on registered pharmacies, with formal responses from the national professional and industry representative bodies, 450 questionnaires returned by pharmacy professionals, and 4,700 visitors to our dedicated consultation website.

We are also considering feedback from events we held with members of the public in London, Liverpool, Glasgow and Cardiff.

The organisation’s response to the consultation will be considered at the next meeting of the Council on Thursday 14 June. Our council meetings are open to the public and people are welcome to attend. There are more details about the meetings here

The Council has decided to move back the approval of the new standards to its September meeting, after agreeing that there would not be sufficient time to consider both the consultation report and the new standards at its meeting in June.

We have also just finalised our response to the Law Commission’s review of the regulation of health care professionals, and you can read more about that in this bulletin.

We will keep you informed about our plans for the regulation of registered pharmacies and look forward to hearing more views on the Law Commission’s review.

Best wishes

Bob
