Accreditation and Recognition Panel member positions

We are seeking to fill several positions within our Accreditation and Recognition panel, the group of experts who quality-assure courses on our behalf. Team Leaders (x4) and Team Members (x18) are currently needed.

The role

Panel members use their expertise to make sure course provision being accredited is fit for purpose, through rigorous application of the GPhC’s education and training standards, making judgements on the basis of evidence.

Panel members will be involved in around six or more days of accreditation events per year, plus preparatory and follow up work. Accreditation and recognition events take place both by videoconference and at sites around the around the UK, panel members must therefore be willing to travel and stay overnight on ocassions. Due to the pandemic, all Accreditation and Recognition events are currently taking place remotely.

Accreditation and Recognition panel members are remunerated for their work and expenses are paid. 

Team Leaders (x4)

Successful candidates will guide the accreditation team through the accreditation process, and must have extensive experience of chairing events and facilitating joint decision making at a senior level.

We encourage applications from pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, academics, or other professionals; we are looking to fill the following posts:

  • One pharmacy technician
  • Three x pharmacist, pharmacy academic or lay person

Team Members (x18)

We encourage applications from pharmacists or pharmaceutical scientists working in a university school of pharmacy in Great Britain and Northern Ireland; or pharmacists or pharmacy technicians with an education or training role; we are looking to fill the following posts:

  • Five x pharmacy technician 
  • Six x pharmacist
  • Seven x pharmacy academic

Through this recruitment drive we seek to increase the diversity of the Accreditation and Recognition panel. In particular, we look to recruit panel members from schools of pharmacy not currently represented on the panel and people who work in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Current members of the Accreditation and Recognition panel are welcome to apply for the role of team leader, but may not exceed 12 years on the panel in the last 20 years, and may not exceed eight years in either role.

We are a respected regulatory body that regulates pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacies in Great Britain. We work to assure and improve standards of care for people using pharmacy services.
