Decision Writer (Professional Regulation)

We are seeking an experienced Decision-Maker to join our team, responsible for reviewing and drafting decisions on fitness to practise investigations. This critical role ensures that professional standards are maintained within the pharmacy sector, and that public confidence in the profession is upheld.

The role

As a Decision-Maker, you will work within the legislative framework to assess completed investigations, ensuring decisions are fair, proportionate, and aligned with the threshold criteria. You will analyse evidence, provide direction for further investigation when necessary, and draft clear, well-reasoned decisions. Additionally, you will offer guidance and coaching to colleagues, helping ensure timely and effective case resolutions.
 

Key responsibilities include making well-founded decisions on fitness to practise cases by assessing risk, professional integrity, and adherence to standards. You will review and analyse various types of evidence, including responses from pharmacy professionals, and provide direction for further investigation when necessary. You will draft clear, concise, and reasoned decisions or advice. The role also involves supporting and guiding colleagues to ensure consistent, fair outcomes, while upholding regulatory standards and complying with relevant legislation and internal policies.


The successful applicant will:

  • Have proven experience in decision-making, ideally within a regulatory or similar context.
  • Possess strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate complex evidence.
  • Have excellent written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
  • Have a sound understanding of regulatory procedures and experience in casework.
  • Be able to work to strict deadlines and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Have an unwavering commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
