Pharmacy Technician Fellow (Secondment)- GPhC and NHSE

We are providing an exciting new fellowship opportunity to work across the GPhC and the Chief Pharmaceutical Officers office (NHS England)

The role

Are you ready to take the next step in your professional career and build on your leadership qualities?

Do you want to work in a national role and experience new opportunities and networks that stretch you?

This exciting new fellowship post provides you with the opportunity to work across the Chief Pharmaceutical Officers Office (NHS England) and the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). This is the second joint hosted national pharmacy technician fellow at NHSE and the first co-hosted with the GPhC.

You will have the opportunity to develop strong networks, your strategic thinking, and undertake a leadership programme. You will also link in with Fellows on other schemes so that you can establish peer networks and fully embrace the opportunities from being on a fellowship.

This role offers an unparalleled opportunity to develop a range of skills at a national level including strategic leadership and management, policy development, project management, research and analysis, communications, and collaboration. Putting all learning and experiences into practice will be a key element of this fellowship. We are looking for an individual who is ready to work in a new way, providing professional leadership and advice relating to where pharmacy technicians can add value to national healthcare priorities. We are especially keen to focus the fellowship project(s) on patient safety, professional practice, and regulatory standards.

Your personal attributes and skills will be critical to what you achieve professionally and personally from the fellowship. Whilst some of the work will be undertaken remotely, you will be required to travel and spend some time in both the NHS England’s office in Waterloo, and the General Pharmaceutical Council office in Canary Wharf. Working arrangements will be discussed at interview and we support flexible and hybrid working.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have an excellent understanding of governance and the role of pharmacy technicians in various settings and will be able to translate this into providing support to key deliverables.
  • Be an experienced pharmacy technician from any sector of healthcare and be able to communicate technical and clinical issues clearly to lay colleagues.
  • Be able to make evidence-based judgments, provide objective advice and work with competing demands.
  • Keep up to date with relevant evidence base practice and accepted quality standards and guidelines.
  • Have an unwavering commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
