Senior Legal Advisor

We are looking for someone to provide advice, direction and decision making on some of the organisation’s most complex and aged fitness to practice cases.

The role



You will work closely with the Heads of Professionals’ Regulation and the directorate management team to review some of our oldest and complex cases to provide direction and advice on how to progress investigations and prepare cases for hearing. You will be working independently most of the time but will need to interact with a range of different colleagues to ensure timely case progression is achieved. Our goal is to improve timeliness and this role is integral to helping us reduce our overall caseload.   

This role is subject to a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of our pre-employment due diligence.



The successful applicant will:

  • Be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister (or equivalent).
  • Have substantial experience of casework and knowledge of regulatory procedures and/or experience of working for a regulator.
  • Have significant decision-making experience in a regulatory or similar context.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively with staff of all levels and work as part of a team, sharing knowledge and supporting staff to achieve positive outcomes.
