In October 2023, we hosted a roundtables event focusing on accountability and Fitness to Practise, specifically how regulators can tackle over-representation of certain groups in regulatory processes and learn from others about how they have approached this.
Our equality focused roundtables and events are designed to shape our regulatory work, informed by the experiences of our stakeholders. This links directly to the commitments in our strategy to help tackle the different types of discrimination within pharmacy and to support an open and inclusive culture where pharmacy teams are empowered to meet their professional and legal obligations.
In September 2023 we hosted a roundtable event on language barriers and health inequalities.
Rebecca Curtayne, Public Affairs Lead, Healthwatch England spoke about their report Lost for Words – Healthwatch Evidence on how language barriers contributes to health inequalities.
Jay Patel, Regional Facilitator, Early Career Pharmacist Practice Team, School of Pharmacy & Medicines Optimisation (NW), NHS England, shared research into the experience of pharmacy professionals across sectors, when they encounter language barriers with patients.
