The GPhC in Wales

We work to ensure that pharmacy regulation is responsive to, and reflective of, developments in Wales, as well as England and Scotland.

We work collaboratively with a wide range of professionals, regulatory and oversight bodies in Wales to ensure safe and effective provision of pharmacy services. We also work closely with the government.

Darren Hughes, Director for Wales

In 2011 Darren was appointed as Director for Wales for the General Pharmaceutical Council. Prior to joining the GPhC Darren worked for the General Medical Council in Wales, latterly as Head of Office.

Darren leads the GPhC’s work in Wales and supports its commitment to regulating in a way that reflects the local context across Great Britain. A key part of this, for him, is ensuring that the work of the Council is understood, and engaging with pharmacy professionals, the National Assembly for Wales, patients and the public, education providers and other key partners and stakeholders.

Contact Darren at or on 0203 713 7964.
