In June 2021, we published Managing concerns about pharmacy professionals: our strategy for change. Guided by our 2030 vision and our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, the Strategy outlines a programme for change around how we manage concerns about pharmacy professionals.
The Strategy sets out how we will take prompt action to protect patients when needed, while at the same time promoting and encouraging a learning culture that allows pharmacy professionals to deal with any concerns and go back to practising in appropriate circumstances. It also focuses on how to make sure the decisions we make are fair and that we eliminate any discrimination or bias in decision-making.
We are undertaking an evaluation of the strategy. As part of this, we are looking for individuals (including pharmacy professionals, members of the public, employers) who have been involved in a fitness to practice concern that closed since April 2023 and would be willing to share their experiences (whether positive or negative).
Taking part in the evaluation
If you have been involved in a concern, you can help support the evaluation of the strategy and make sure our approach is effective in supporting those involved as well as protecting patients and the public.
We have concluded the initial phase of our evaluation and are now moving into the next stage, where we aim to further expand upon the insights we have gained.
For this phase, we are specifically seeking input from anyone involved in cases that have been opened from October 2023 onwards and is now closed. Therefore, we kindly request that you only engage with us if the case you have been involved with falls within this timeframe.
You can support the evaluation work if you:
-
Have raised a concern with us
Share your feedback and complete a short survey, with the option to also register your interest to participate in an interview or focus group.
