GPhC pre-registration Surveys 2016

We conducted a pre-registration pharmacist tutor survey and pre-registration pharmacy technician training survey for the 2014-2015 training year alongside an analysis of pre-registration trainee pharmacist dissatisfaction for the 2013/14 training year.

There was an ongoing debate around the quality of pharmacist pre-registration training and we have been keen to build a better picture around the overall experience of trainee pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and regarding the quality of their pre-registration training.

Key findings from the reports

  • 89% of trainee pharmacy technicians thought the overall quality of training was very good/good
  • 78% of trainee pharmacists thought the overall quality of training was very good/good
  • Nearly three quarters of tutors said they had access to sufficient support during the training year
  • The analysis of pre-registration trainee pharmacist dissatisfaction confirmed there were significant differences between satisfied and dissatisfied trainees based on age, ethnic group, training sector and region.
