Returning to the register

If you have previously been registered as a pharmacist or pharmacy technician with the GPhC or the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, you can apply to re-join the GPhC register.

The way you will need to do this and the information you will need to provide depend on how long it has been since you were last registered.

If it is less than 12 months since you were last registered, you should complete an application to restore your registration.

If it is more than 12 months since you were last registered, you should complete an application to return to the register.

See the sections below for more information.

Important

You can’t practise until you’ve received your GPhC registration number and your name appears on our register. Practising as a pharmacist or pharmacy technician while not on the register is against the law.

Restoring you registration

If it’s less than 12 months since you were last registered with us, and you want to start practising as a pharmacist again, you’ll need to restore your registration with us.

To restore your registration, you need to complete the following steps.

Complete an application form and submit your application through your myGPhC account.

The criteria for registration as a pharmacist explains the criteria you need to meet.  We’ll use the information you provide your application to assess if you meet the criteria.

Returning to the register

If it’s more than 12 months since you were last registered with us or the previous regulator, and you want to start practising again, you’ll need to return to the register.

To return to the register, you need to complete the following steps.

Please send a scanned copy of your completed application form to registers@pharmacyregulation.org.  Don’t submit more than one copy of your application as it may mean you’re accidentally charged twice.
