Research

We are committed to using research evidence, where available, to help ensure efficient, effective regulation. It is a powerful tool that can be used for future planning and to identify where resources are most needed.

In-house and commissioned research

We carry out and commission research to gain insights about the pharmacy sector and explore trends in data we collect. This research helps to inform our work and makes sure our decisions are based on robust evidence.

We also hold consultations on vital aspects of our work to understand the views of patients and the public, pharmacy professionals and other stakeholders.

Third-party research

We do not give contact details for pharmacy professionals on our registers to students, academic researchers or other third parties for the purpose of carrying out their own surveys or research. We occasionally facilitate research studies or other projects where they benefit one of the GPhC’s statutory aims or strategic priorities. Requests will be assessed on a case by case basis.
