Accreditation guidance and templates

All courses and qualifications:

The following guidance information and templates are for current and potential course providers:

Master of Pharmacy (MPharm)

For the MPharm reaccreditation* methodology in the 2021/22 academic year please read the adapted methodology for reaccreditation of MPharm degrees to 2021 standards.

To avoid duplication, only a single template needs to be completed for reaccreditation regardless of the number of MPharm variants a provider delivers e.g. if the provider offers both an accredited 5-year integrated degree and a 4-year degree (or other variant such as the 2+2 model), only the 4yr, and 5 yr submission template needs to be completed. If a provider offers a MPharm with preparatory year and a 4 year MPharm (or other variant such as the 2+2 model) the MPharm submission template needs to be completed (please ensure that the separate provisions are correctly identified within the submission document via headings and associated appendices are identified by programme type). Please contact the GPhC if you have any questions in respect of the correct submission template to be completed.

*accreditation step events for 5-year MPharm degrees will continue under the IETP 2011 standards unless separate arrangements have been agreed with the GPhC.

Overseas pharmacists’ assessment programme (OSPAP)

The GPhC are currently reviewing the OSPAP standards. During the interim period, we will continue to use the Standards for the education and training of non-EEA pharmacists wanting to register in Great Britain 2011. Events will take place in the form of interim events, with full commentary under the individual standards, until such time that new standards are published and provision can be fully reaccredited to the new standards.

Monitoring events

All providers of newly accredited independent prescribing courses must have a monitoring event after the first cohort of students has completed the course. This includes an evaluation of the clinical skills teaching element of the course.

Request to use non-medical Designated Prescribing Practitioners (DPPs) as part of a GPhC approved course

Please complete the below submission template should you wish to use non-medical Designated Prescribing Practitioners (DPPs) as part of your GPhC approved course. This submission template is intended to be used by providers who are accredited to the pre-2019 standards and who wish to use non-medical DPPs. However, course providers who have already been accredited to the 2019 standards, but who were asked to resubmit their non-medical DPP application to the GPhC, should also complete this submission template.

Please note, course providers who have a planned GPhC reaccreditation event scheduled for 2021/22 should not use this template and should complete the independent prescribing re/accreditation submission template (found above), as part of the reaccreditation process.
