New deputy chief executive appointed
We have appointed Megan Forbes as its Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Operations.
Megan will join the GPhC on 5 June 2017 from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Megan’s responsibilities at the FCA have included leading the IT, finance, HR, communications and legal teams that support the FCA’s enforcement division. She has led multidisciplinary teams through significant programmes of change and has also managed teams of investigators tackling misconduct in financial services.
Prior to working for the FCA, Megan was Legal and Enforcement Partner at Ofgem, the regulator of the gas and electricity markets, where she led a major transformation of Ofgem’s approach to enforcement.
In addition to her extensive regulatory experience, Megan also brings wide-ranging governmental, legal and parliamentary experience through her work for the Government Legal Department. Her roles there included working as Deputy Counsel for the Speaker to the House of Commons and advising the Department for Business on a range of issues relating to the energy and telecommunications sectors, employment law and export control.
Commenting on the appointment Duncan Rudkin, Chief Executive of the GPhC, said:
“I would like to congratulate Megan on her appointment and welcome her to the GPhC. Megan will take on a new role within the organisation and will have a critical part to play in helping us to achieve our ambitious strategic aims and programmes of work.
“I have no doubt that Megan’s wealth of experience, including within regulation, will be of great benefit to the GPhC.”
