GPhC new Chief Pharmacy Officer role at General Pharmaceutical Council

The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) is recruiting to a new executive role of Chief Pharmacy Officer within the regulator.

The Chief Pharmacy Officer will bring a new pharmacy professional voice and presence into the GPhC senior leadership team, with a remit to:

  • Represent the pharmacy regulator authoritatively on professional issues in public, with the pharmacy professions and, increasingly, in multi-disciplinary teams and multi-disciplinary collaborative regulatory work
  • Act as the executive lead on pharmacy inspection and regulatory insight
  • Provide cross-cutting professional leadership within the GPhC, working with our pharmacist and pharmacy technician colleagues across the organisation

The creation of this role is part of a wider set of changes, designed to foster a culture of enterprise leadership, inclusion and collaboration within the GPhC.

Reporting to the Chief Executive and Registrar, the Chief Pharmacy Officer will be the most senior member of the profession within the GPhC executive, providing pharmacy leadership across the GPhC.

The post holder will bring a collaborative approach to working both within and outside the organisation. They will be responsible for ensuring that all the GPHC’s work is informed by relevant evidence and data, with the insight drawn from that supporting the development of pharmacy services and policy.

The successful candidate will be a GPhC-registered pharmacist or pharmacy technician, with a breadth and depth of experience and understanding of the work of the pharmacy professions, and their changing role in society.

They will bring an authentically inclusive leadership approach, with a personal commitment to the GPhC’s values, behavioural framework and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.
