GPhC publishes guidance on the initial assessment of incoming concerns

The guidance sets out our revised approach to assessing concerns when they are first received and deciding whether an investigation is required or if other action is more appropriate.

The guidance explains how initial assessment is carried out and what outcomes can be decided at this stage of our managing concerns process.

The approach allows us to make more enquiries in the early stages of receiving a concern. It will make sure we are investigating only those concerns that need it, and that any others that can appropriately be resolved through other means are dealt with in a timely way. It also helps us take swift action on the most serious concerns and identify any risk to patient safety.

This change is part of our ongoing work to deliver our Managing concerns about pharmacy professionals strategy.
